Message from Chapter President Chuck Baker - January 2018
Welcome to the 2017-2018 fiscal year program. My name is Chuck Baker. I am the president for the 2017-2018 year. I welcome all of you who are members, but also, I welcome those that have been ex-members that are still receiving the newsletters.
Thank you for being part of the APICS Industrial Crescent chapter. This chapter works well due to the board of directors that we have on staff. In mentioning that, I would like to have everyone know who these board members are and what they do. The chapter runs on eight cylinders because of what they do.
VP of Student Relations is Ali Snover. She is a senior in Clemson and has been the president for her chapter since August. Ali makes sure that all the Clemson students that are affiliated with APICS are aware of the meetings and seminars that are coming up. Come May, Ali will be graduating. We will need another student to fill her shoes.
Jeff Anderson, CSCP, CFPIM, CDDP is the Executive VP. He will assume the role of president come July 1.
VP Finance – Dawn Hill, CPIM, CSCP VP Marketing – Toyya Funchess
VP Administration – Jessica Glenney, CSCP VP Education – Sue Belair, CPIM
VP Membership – Rebecca Pawlus, CPIM VP Programs – John Center, CPIM
Web Administrator – Mike Prater, CPIM
Company Coordinator Director – Yash Bhatia, CPIM
Chair of Career Development – Jessica Clayton
Communications Director – Chris Paulz, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD
Tom Krupka (past APICS International president) – CFPIM, Jonah, CSCP, CLTD
Margie Frazier, CPIM has just joined the board. We will be looking at positions where she can assist the chapter. If there are other members that wish to join the board, please let me know. One of the great things about this wonderful board is that nobody has to do it all. Everyone pitches in and assists others when needed. We could always use a few more hands. We meet as a board on the Tuesday before the PDM (Professional Development Meeting) for dinner and discuss and plan upcoming events.
As you meet the board members at the PDMs, please thank them for what they do. We try to have at least one board member sitting at each table so reach out and meet them.
I mentioned in the past that APICS created a new certification in CLTD (Certification in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution). This is new as of January, 2017. We already have three certified instructors in our chapter. If you are interested in taking the course, information is on our website as well as on the Greenville Tech website. Pass the word around to others.
For the rest of the fiscal year, we still have tours (DISH on 6 February from 4 - 6PM) and PDMs (20 Feb, 20 March, 17 April and Top Management Night on 15 May). Please refer to the APICS Industrial Crescent website for all the information. You can thank Mike Prater for all that he does to keep us informed.
Here’s hoping that your winter is quick and your spring lasts a long time.
Chuck Baker, CSCP, CLTD
